My holiday to EgyptWritten on September 29, 2008
Here we are again! September was a really busy month. In the first two weeks, I did earn some extra money as a shopkeeper in my parents' shop. And the next week, I went together with my girlfriend on a holiday to Egypt. I also updated my Stargate section. And last but not least, it's school again!
So as told above, I went to Egypt with my girlfriend.
It was a one week holiday to Marsa Alam, located on the west coast of the Red Sea and about 270 km south of Hurghada.
Marsa Alam is becoming yet another favourite holiday destination on the Red Sea Riviera.
The airport is still quite small. I was told that it serves an average of 5 flights a day.
Also the duty-free shops were still under construction.
But there was a Pizza Hut and a Coffee Shop, so what do you need more?
We were staying in Hotel The Three Corners Fayrouz Plaza Beach Resort, a heck of a name! It was a pretty nice hotel in the middle of nowhere. Well, in the middle of the desert. The hotel itself consisted of separate buildings of about 10 rooms, all organised around the central swimming pool. The weather was extremely hot, like 35° (Celsius). And even at night, it was still 27°. If you compare such temperatures with Belgium, well than it's freezing over here. When we returned to Brussels, it was like 16° and at night 5° or so. So as you can see, Belgium is no match for Egypt. Next to the weather, the food and the service was also excellent. It was like my first trip without remarks.
Our hotel also had a 800-meter private beach which leads directly to the sea and the coral reef. I really enjoyed snorkeling over there and I also made some underwater pictures:
As you might have noticed, these pictures were made by a throw away camera, so don't blame me.
We returned to Belgium without any problems. Thomas Cook did a great job. We didn't visit the great pyramids in Giza, nor the temple complexes in Karnak and Luxor. It was a summer holiday with my girlfriend and we had a great time. But of course, I do wanna see all those ancient buildings, because that's where Stargate is based on
Stargate section updated
During the 5-6 hours on the airplane - yes, it was a long flight -
I updated the Stargate section of this site.
Because we're about a year and a half later now, lots of things happened in the stargate universe.
I refer you to this section for more information, but the most important change is the cancellation of Stargate Atlantis.
Yes indeed, after only five seasons, Stargate Atlantis is cancelled.
But don't be afraid, a brand new series will be released: Stargate Universe.
This series will premiere with a 2-hour movie in the summer of 2009.
For more information about this brand new series, check my Stargate section again.
I also created 2 subsections: Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis (surprise!). These subsections will contain the highlights in each of the seasons of both series. For now, these subsections are quite empty, but I thank you for your patience.
Lessons started again
It's Monday morning now, the start of my second week of school. Previous week, I started a 2-year Master of Computer Science Engineering with main subject Software Engineering. I'm taking 4 courses now in this first semester. For each of those courses there are some practics or a project, so it will be a busy semester.
